Check it out - there is new work in my shop! I've been bewitched by the beauty of watercolor and have started incorporating the medium into my illustration work. Each of these new works are so fresh, they still make my heart skip and my eyes light up each time I see them. Even now as I type this, I am thinking of what to paint next. Magnolia Moonlight is showing again this year at the Great Gifts Holiday Shop at The Bridge in Charlottesville, VA. Great Gifts Holiday Shop is a wonderful way to support your regional artisans and find those unique Christmas gifts that are so much cooler than a new gadget gizmo. The Grand Opening is THIS Friday, December 2nd at The Bridge - 209 Monticello Road next to Spudnuts! Great Gifts is Open December 2nd through December 24th. Weekdays 12-8 pm and Weekends 12-6 pm. That is almost an entire month, so you have no excuse not to stop by!! Over 40 local artisans are featured and a percentage of all purchases goes to support The Bridge.

If you are not familiar with this venue, here is a little info: The Bridge is a small-scale non-profit arts organization located in historic downtown Charlottesville. They strive to be a catalyst for positive change in our community, supporting the work of young and emerging artists while building community through the power of collaboration and direct engagement in the creative process.

Sounds great right? It is! Come on out for First Fridays and pick up a new Magnolia Moonlight Calendar, Print or set of holiday cards while you're at it!

Redbud Gifts online store for Local Goods and Experiences
I am excited to announce the launch of a new online store, Redbud Gifts. Not only am I thrilled to be a featured vendor on the store (you can see my online profile here) But I am also proud to say that the lovely logo and website header are my designs. Kate Bennis, the genius behind Redbud Gifts emailed me one day after seeing some of my work and after a few meetings this lovely design was born. Kate has taken the logo and run with it placing the design on T-shirts, tote bags, stickers and at the opening party, the logo was even on some delicious cookies!

Redbud Gifts is an online gift store for local goods and experiences. Everything sold on the web site originates within 100 miles of Charlottesville, Virginia.

I feel so lucky! Magnolia Moonlight and Oh So Smitten have both been featured in the wonderful magazine Stationery Trends! For Magnolia Moonlight, the Hummingbird Bridal Shower invitation was selected and for Oh So Smitten the Oh So Fun Owl Birth Print was chosen. It is nice to see my work among so many wonderful collections and hopefully this will bring some new eyes and future fans to my work. Fingers crossed!

I am so excited to share this news! The Responsible Robot bags I designed in collaboration with Pretty Green Bag are now available - Hooray! The Responsible Robots bag is fun and quirky! Two of my favorite little robots have been out playing in the woods. These smart little bots remind us that you can start fresh by rebooting, rebuilding and recycling. The back of the bag is decorated with Pretty Green gingko leaves. You can grab one up for yourself here!

New Prints in the shop! ENJOY THE JOURNEY

The word "Journey" is woven among the winding paths reminiscent of a map. The small text reads: "on the path you choose to follow your dreams, be sure to enjoy the journey". The prints come in 4 colorways and is a nice colorful reminder that Life is a Journey.

This print makes a perfect graduation gift and comes as an 8x10 or 11x14 and can even be customized with a personal message. Many graduates are so excited to get to their destination in life, they may forget to enjoy the path that takes them there. This print is a fun reminder that the winding path they take is all part of the experience.

*The idea for this poster came to me on a gloomy winter day when despite my best efforts, I could not summon any creative energy. I started to write a list of simple things that might break me out of my funk.

As I wrote the list I realized that I wanted it not to dictate creativity, but be more of a map, leading you to your own thoughts, memories or creations. I tried to keep it simple yet playful, touching on ideas that send all our minds reeling with stories and may even make our hearts flutter a little...

A pic from the opening of the Great Gifts Holiday Shop at The Bridge last night. It is a fun and festive show with over 40 local artists featured [Including Magnolia Moonlight!] If you missed the opening, be sure to stop by before the holidays are through! The store will be open daily through December 23. Gift Certificates will be available for purchase through December 23 and they make great gifts, too! Following the Christmas holiday, visitors can browse during normal gallery hours or by appointment. The store will come down the last week of January. They accept cash, check, and plastic. All proceeds go to The Bridge and the vibrant artists that enrich our community with their skills and creativity.

The Print and Pattern book!
I was thrilled when I received an email back in July of 2008 from Bowie Style, author of the blog print and pattern, saying that I was on her wish list of designers that she would like to feature in the new book she working on. I am even more thrilled to see the book itself. It is beautiful and inspiring and my heart did a little flutter when I turned to the pages with my work. The idea of the book is to celebrate and showcase the wealth of talent in the fields of surface pattern design, stationery, papergoods, illustration, textiles, cards and more.

The pics above are from my recent trip to Barnes and Noble. I must say that it was fun to pull it from the shelf and flip through pages of gorgeous design and once again, see my spread! I am completely honored and thrilled to be included in the book alongside so many other talented designers. The book features designers you may know such as Orla Kiely, Sukie and Jill Bliss, but also features smaller, lesser known artists, plus a little bit of background information about each one.

Poppytalk Paper Pops Market launches today!
I'm excited to launch my new line of art prints and invitations today at the Poppytalk Paper Pops Market! The bold colors and modern graphics that Magnolia Moonlight is known for are here again, but the images are more organic as each one is hand illustrated by me and the images weave together to create mythical worlds with texture and depth.

In addition to the art prints, I've pulled some of my illustrated elements to create invitations and birth announcements. This collection has started small but will continue to grow throughout the spring and summer.

They're Here! New Art Prints from Magnolia Moonlight!
I am so excited to announce the release of new art prints in my shop! The prints are created from my original pen and ink drawings. Each drawing has a magical story that comes to life in the imagination of the viewer. This one "Ink Filled Sky" is one of my favorites. I always seem to get lost in it. I love the funny expressions on the birds and the texture which gives the drawing a feeling of motion!

Spring Bada-Bing
We had a great time this weekend at the 4th annual Spring Bada-Bing in Richmond! It was a beautiful day and there was a great turn out with crowds rushing the doors at 11am for the free schwag bags! The show was put together by the Richmond Craft Mafia and they did a spectacular job! I released some of my new prints and a few invitations at this show. It was a little test run for me to see how people reacted to them. I am thrilled to say that they received rave reviews and I sold out of almost all the prints I brought. YAY! Jardin 2009 Desk Calendars are Here!
The Magnolia Moonlight Jardin desk calendars have arrived. The beautiful calendars are a lovely gift and come in both black & white and vibrant color. They bring a touch of class to any desk or dresser. Each of the plants shown was discovered, then photographed right in my back yard. I even caught the little bird splashing around in my bird bath!

I met Keith and Chris at the stationery show this year. I must say, when they walked into my booth I was so excited I wanted to jump around! I just love fredflare.com. They are just as fun as they seem online and even nicer! I am thrilled to have my shout calendar and cards in their shop!

2009 Shout Calendars are Here!
Hip Hip Hurray - bring on the fun and the sun because the 2009 Magnolia Moonlight Shout Calendars have arrived!
I took these photos out on the clothesline in our backyard. It was a really fun shoot. The calendars add so much color to the yard - wish I could keep them out there all year!
Printed double sided on heavy matte cover stock - 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer content, processed chlorine-free paper, using soy inks. The calendar is wire-o bound with a notch and hanger hook. You can check them out now at my etsy store!

Stationery Show - a few more shots
Wanted to post a few more photos to show our booth in the making. The lighting is very bad for photography - but you can still take a peek at the booth before, during and after! We got a lot of compliments for our cleanly designed and well lit booth. The red bird + blue bird mobiles were a definite eye catcher. Seems as though all the hard work has paid off!

It is almost time to head up to the National Stationery Show in New York. Here's a little preview for you from one of my newest collections to be launched at the Stationery Show. Mobiles! Paper never felt so fun! Once the warm weather and sunshine hit, we all find our minds wandering, wishing we were "playing" outside. Now you can bring a little of the outside in with you!
